After a evening bonfire we all retired to our cabins- ours was built in 1874 I think. We had heat, a kitchen and bathroom. :)
We all slept together in the loft- "Good night John boy....Good night Paw...."
Saturday morning we had eggs, sausage and biscuits for breakfast and then had morning prayer on the porch.
Then we just let the children lose to play- we brought bikes and balls and there was a huge playground. A few other families arrived just to spend the day on Saturday-
This boy was on his bike almost the entire time!
We all had afternoon prayers, a big lunch of sandwiches and chips, and then everyone played a giant game of capture the flag in the woods. It went on for hours! That evening we cooked out burgers and hot dogs and played tug of war. Then we ended with evening prayers and s'mores around a bonfire. There is a Franciscan priest in this tug of war! ha!
The dads battled it out and even the moms had a tug-of-war battle!
Babies wore out during the prayers and songs-
Whittling a stick for marshmallow roasting-
On Sunday we had breakfast, morning prayers and then cabin clean up. Then there was a rosary walk up a hill to the chapel where Father said Mass. We had to put together a little altar over the permanent podium. These weekends totally wear the parents out with getting and keeping the coats, flashlights, food and gear together, but the children had the time of their lives and that makes it all worth it!
