Field Day 2017

Today we had our homeschool cover school's field day!  It was such a fun day!  The children wore t-shirts with the color based on their age.  That made it very easy to arrange age groups for competitions.

Most of the day there was a giant football game going on in the field- Marky was in hog heaven.

A big highlight for the day were the relay races.  Teams of four raced against the clock to complete a series of tasks.  At the end two groups of Moms raced- and I am happy to say, my team- Team Wonderwomen- won!  :)

Team Rockets!

Go Sissy!

Now for the Mommas!!

Charlie was my partner for the water balloon toss.  We didn't win, but we had fun.  :)

Sack races!

We've had some fun feasts this week.  Thursday was the feast day of St. Wenceslas (a.k.a. "Good King Wenceslas,")- one of our favorites!  I took his statue (that Marc bought in Prague) and book to co-op and read to the children.  We colored his picture at home.

Today is Michaelmas- the feast day for Saints Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael.    We had a special chocolate cake and Daddy read to us all about the angels before prayer time on the porch.  I wish I'd taken more pictures!

For Friday night movie night we watched Heidi.  It was sweet, although in the book Heidi and her grandfather turn to God for forgiveness and restoration.  Still, the gorgeous Swiss scenery and wholesome fun is refreshing in this culture of crass and crude flash.

This and that, hoe downs and soccer

Just checking in.  Sissy is so happy to be back in the saddle.

She's also happy we let her spend her money on this cat head.  It goes with her whale and horse costumes.

Charlie had his first soccer game on Saturday.  BB came to watch!

Not on my watch!

Saturday night we went to a church hoe down!  It was such a fun time!  We even got out Daddy's never-before-worn cowboy boots.  :)

At one point Tucker drew a face on a cup to use as a dance partner.

Cotton-eyed Joe!

We had fun on a friend's farm-

All the third graders at church received a new Bible.  Tucker already had a Bible, and of course our home is filled with Bibles, but this Bible has become his new best friend.  He reads it all day every day and takes it every where we go.

I am teaching Alabama History at our homeschool co-op (and Church History to middle schoolers).  Tucker loves the Alabama history and loved learning all about the Native Alabamians.  I taught them the songs BB taught me when I was young.

He came home and made a spear and headdress.  :)

Charlie loves seeing his friends at co-op-

Today he made a planet mobile.....again.  :)

I love you, Little Craftmaster!
