Overheard

Someone told Tucker that all four children seemed to adore Anastasia-
Tucker:  Oh, yes, she is the light of our family.   We are the candles, she is the match.

While eating fried chicken-
Tucker:  I have finished around the fibula, now I am eating around the tibia.

After playing with a badly-behaved friend-
Mommy:  Why are you sad about playing with "Felix"?
Tucker:  Do you remember the movie Inside Out?  "Felix's" memory balls are all red.  He is mad and only thinks mad thoughts.  He seems happiest when other people are hurt.  I don't think he is being a good friend.
Mommy:  He definitely is not acting like a good friend right now.  I am sorry.

Cleaning the house for company-
Charlie:  Why do we have to clean all this?
Mommy:  Because I don't want them thinking we live in squalor.
Charlie:  But we sometimes do.
Mommy:  Touche.

Reading about Oliver Cromwell-
Tucker:  "Lord Protector" indeed!  He wasn't a Lord and didn't protect anyone but himself!

Heading to Marc's "Spain Park" lacrosse game Tucker brings this sign he made-

Mommy:  Buddy, this colors for the team are black and light blue.
Tucker:  Yes- but my sign is the flag of Spain!  Everyone will know that.

Lacrosse, this and that

Marc had his first high school lacrosse game this weekend.  It was so exciting.  He's #24.  We were thrilled when he scored!

He said, "don't take pictures."  Might as well have said, "don't breathe." :)

We went to a fundraiser dinner/auction for a local school and I won this alphabet of Catholic Saint peg dolls that were painted by a Dominican Sister.  I cannot tell you how much I LOVE LOVE LOVE this!!!  They even gave me the beautiful hand-made case.  I now have 29 wooden Saints.  She designed them to look like the ones in the book.   :)

The children love them.  Their name and feast day is written on the bottom.  Tucker especially loves them and says over and again how beautiful they are and how blessed we are to have them.

We met BB for lunch this week.  Despite her solemn expression, Annie enjoyed her story. :)

We met BB because she was taking Julia to horseback riding.  Since she's western now, BB and Poppy got her some cowgirl boots! :)

We were blessed to become Godparents to our friend's baby girl at her baptism this weekend.

We have awesome woods and a creek behind our house.  Daddy took the boys and our neighbors for a hike on Saturday.

This is Annie helping Marc with his Geometry.  She says it's easy.  :)

This and that

Here are some pictures of the happiest baby in the world.  Oh how we love our smiley, happy baby girl!

Remember the toy the Marky built for Annie on Christmas Eve?

Now she is old enough to play with it and she LOVES it!  She plays forever in her little "house."  :)  She's holding her "mail"- she likes to put it in the mailbox.

She still LOVES her bath, but she sits up now and splashes the water.  It's a huge mess, but she has so much fun.

We went to our friends' baby's baptism this past weekend.  It was so beautiful.

Parents and Godparents-

Annie was happy to support her friend.

Remember at my baby shower how so many women were pregnant (and we are all about the same age).  Since this picture six of us have had babies, and one is due soon.  Out of those women- one had her fourth, two had their fifths, two had their sixths, one had her seventh and one had her tenth.  Large families are how we Catholic's roll.  :)  (Looking at this picture I remember being sooooo nervous about the baby living.  I prayed all day every day- please let this baby live.  And here she is- in all her sweetness. Praise the Lord!)

Thank you, Lord, for ALL of these babies to love.  :)

Julia has become the best little piano player.  We love to hear her play.  We got her the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit movie soundtracks to learn.  She plays "Misty Mountains" and "Rohan" all the time.

I also bought the Jane Austen piano book, which I myself play all the time.  :)  I especially love "Father's Favorite" that Marianne was playing over and over in Sense and Sensibility.

We are having a wonderful stretch of homeschooling right now.  We are learning so much.   I have found YouTube to be so helpful in fleshing out the things we are learning.  For instance, after reading about Louis IV, the Sun King, we watched several biographies on his life and a video detailing the building of Versailles.  We are reading Famous Men of Medicine and then researching their discoveries further.

We are reading The Marks of the Bear Claws, written by Rev. Henry S. Spalding.  It's a story about Father Marquette finding the Mississippi River and we watched a few videos on it.  I love to reinforce what we are learning with different resources.  (And yes- the Mississippi River was being discovered during the reign of the Sun King- it all works together).

We read a sweet little story by Rumer Godden called The Rocking Horse Secret and Wild Animals I Have Known by Ernest Seton.   Well, I am out of time- more later!
