And here you are my handsome boy growing right up on me-
Charlie at three years old you are an absolute delight! We were talking about how as a newborn you were super easy and laid back. Then when you were one you had eight ear infections in one year and were sick and moody all the time. Then you turned two and I believe you've gotten easier and easier every day since you turned two. And now you are just about perfect!
You are such a sweet boy. You have the sweetest little baby voice- you say "duckwings" for ducklings, "pigwets" for piglets. "dats white" for that's right- we love it! You call Tucker "Tuck Tuck", Julia "Sissybug" or "Jew-wah" and Marc "Bubba". Your hair is lighter than Tucker's for sure, and is straight with a few curls on the ends when you're hot. :)
You are all boy. You can't stand for me to put you in fru fru church clothes. You don't even like applique shirts- you want t-shirts and shorts- period. You only want to wear crocs for shoes and you are specific about which pair. Mind you- Mommy dresses you however I want to, but you do have your preferences. The good thing is once you've stated your objection to what's happening and I state that it's happening anyway- you move on. You recover quickly. You turn from "I don't want to take a nap!" to "Night night Mommy" in a few seconds.
You love to tackle and wrestle. You, Marky and Tucker wrestle all the time. Marky absolutely adores you and dotes on you. You can do no wrong in his eyes. And we call you "Marc Jr. Jr." sometimes because you are so much like Marky in looks and interests. You are tall like him as well. You and Tucker are best friends. You are constantly together and play so well. You do fight over toys some, but not too much. Overall you are a great pair and you talk like little old men all day long. Tucker is more into playing with animals with Julia than you are. You like trains and cars and love to play with Marc's knight castle or with the swords. You will sometimes play "horses" or "puppies" with Julia and Tucker. Julia loves you to pieces as well.
You LOVE to read stories and are smart as a whip. You blow us away- I promise you that you were sounding out the words in your book today- teaching yourself to read! You know all the phonic sounds and all numbers and shock people at restaurants all the time. You will say "that says one hundred and forty." And people say "how old is that baby?" You know all the chess pieces, planets, days of the week, months, seasons, etc. You are so much like your big brothers. Tucker talks so much to you all day long, and that's how you've learned a lot of the trivia you know.
You do NOT want to be a baby (as opposed to Tuck Tuck). You do NOT want a sippy cup, or a diaper or a high chair or anything that's babyish. You have given up your pacifier (on your 3rd birthday per our tradition) and have pretty much potty trained yourself. You cry if anyone calls you "little". "Mommy- Tuck Tuck said I was a wittle boy- tell him I a big boy!" You pray very sweetly with us with your hands folded and eyes closed. And even though you are such a "big boy", you LOVE to be rocked and sung to. I rock you every.single.night and sing songs like "you are my sunshine", "bye o baby" and "hush a bye" as well as our family songs "picture tree" and "sleepy town" (written by your great-grandfather Claude). I kiss you a million times while snuggling you and you giggle all over.
You are very smiley and ALL your face smiles when you are happy- your little eyes get so small! We love it! You have two big dimples that melt my heart. You are a bit shy and look down at the ground if someone addresses you. If you are singing to yourself and notice me looking your face turns red and you smile at the ground. My wittle shy guy! Oh Charlie- you are just so special to us and we are so grateful for our precious baby boy! Happy Happy 3rd birthday to my BIG BOY! :)
