Zaza and Big Grandpa's visit Part 2

Saturday evening we had a big bbq dinner.

Afterwards I let the children put icing and sprinkles on homemade strawberry cupcakes.

After Mass we put the children to bed and I put out the Easter baskets.

Everyone was excited to wake up Easter morning!  I made my usual cross-shaped monkeybread.  It takes a while, but everyone expects and loves it.  :)

The girls immediately painted their picture frames.

Marky worked all morning showing the boys how to put together their lego toys.

Then we drove out to BB and Poppy's farm for lunch and an egg hunt!

We told the boys the egg hunt would start at 1:16 p.m., and they waited with baited breath by the clock.  :)

Then they all ran out to find eggs!

Tucker dressed himself that day.  He came downstairs and said, "see I'm an Easter egg- 1/2 dyed, 1/2 white".  :)

Marky was sweet.  He got a lot of the eggs right off the bat, but he later put them back out so Charlie and Tucker could find some more.   He ended up only having one egg for himself.  Best big brother award!

We had a relaxing afternoon at home.  Marc was showing Zaza some of his writing he's done this year in school.

Of course they couldn't leave without us playing at least one round of Apples to Apples, Jr.  :)   Everybody loves that game.

This morning we got all packed up to take them back to the airport.  We stopped by Jason's Deli for lunch and they gave Big Grandpa his birthday number!

Tucker said, "My ice cream cone looks like a snowman with a sleeping cap.  I'm going to give him a sleepy face."  He used seeds to make a little face.  Mr. T. is always creating.

Such a wonderful visit with our family.  Such a treat to get to celebrate Grandpa's birthday and the Resurrection of Christ altogether!    We finished reading our Lenten book today.    It was a perfect book for leading up to Easter.  We read a little chapter (three or four page chapters) every night after dinner.  It begins with the Nativity and ends with the disciples emboldened with the Holy Spirit at Pentecost.

We also read this book twice because the children loved it so much!  It's an allegory of boys on a ship trying to get to the Golden City.  I could write a whole post of the things I learned in this book.

The kingdom of this world
Is become the kingdom of our Lord,
And of His Christ, and of His Christ;
And He shall reign for ever and ever,
For ever and ever, forever and ever,

King of kings, and Lord of lords,
King of kings, and Lord of lords, :|
And Lord of lords,
And He shall reign,
And He shall reign forever and ever,
King of kings, forever and ever,
And Lord of lords,
Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
