Well, with the baby coming we are getting ready to do a big room switch. Charlie is moving into Marc and Tucker's room, the baby will be in Charlie's room, and Julia will give the baby a lot of her "babyish" books and décor. We moved into this house 8 years ago and Julia was only 3 so her room was pink shabby chic and so sweet. Now she's about to be 12 and she wanted a new update.
So we bought her new bedding, rugs, curtains (that have not arrived yet) and a desk. We picked out a paint color together on Friday and then moved the furniture to the middle of the room and taped off the edges Friday night. Saturday morning the children and Marc painted the entire room in one morning. They were great workers- even the little boys did a great job and worked hard!
Bye bye pink- hello a soft, pale green called "Sweet Serenity"-
Daddy's back is 100% thank goodness! We put him to work, but he loves his little girl and wanted her to have a nice room. :)
Last night we put the furniture back and today after Church we hung up the pictures- and I have to say her brothers were so sweet and helpful. Marky put all the switch covers on the walls and helped hang all the pictures.
And now the finished product! Sissy loves it- and it definitely feels "older" and more in line with where she is now.
The middle floral print was painted by my grandmother who died last year. I am so glad we have it up!
Her biggest wish was a desk in her room. She wants to do some of her schoolwork in there.
Aunt Amber brought her this horse print from Ireland last year along with the brass horseshoe. We love it.
Memaw always had this horse print from Japan in her house, and I am happy for Julia to have it.
This is the happiest little girl! We love you Sissybug!
Speaking of Julia, she wore her bridesmaid's dress to church today- we dressed it down a little so it worked!
The boys looked so sweet on the altar-
Things went well this past week. Tucker has had a little cold so I found him coming into our bed in the morning for a little more shuteye before breakfast. :)
Charlie finally got to start his new math program this week- he was so excited he did two lessons every day. :) Sheepy watched.
In my efforts to get Tucker to read things besides encyclopedias I have instituted "reading hour" (which is really more like 30-40 minutes)where I make him sit and read a chapter book. Once he gets going he likes it, but if he had his druthers he would only read atlases and encyclopedias. Just the facts, ma'am.
He and I were walking in a furniture store the other day when he saw this chair. He said, "Now that's a grand chair. This would have been a great chair for President Taft." :)
If I ever leave my phone sitting around I come back to a lot of pictures. :)
Lord God, Creator of all things, mighty and awesome, just and forgiving, You alone are good and kind. You saved Israel from all manner of plagues, making our forefathers Your chosen people, and hallowing them by the touch of Your Spirit. You, by the cooperation of the Holy Spirit, prepared the body and soul of the glorious virgin Mary to be a worthy dwelling for Your son. You filled John the Baptist with the Holy Spirit, causing him to leap with joy in his mother's womb. Accept the offering of a humble spirit, and grant the heartfelt desire of this mother, who pleads for the safety of the child you allowed her to conceive. Guard the life that is Yours, defend it from all craft and spite of the pitiless foe. Let Your gentle hand, like that of a skilled physician, aid her delivery, bringing her offspring safe and sound to the light of day. May her child live to be reborn in Holy Baptism, and continuing always in Your service, be found worthy of attaining everlasting life; through Christ our Lord.
Do you think I could hear those words and not start crying? It was just beautiful. And afterwards we had a lovely potluck lunch with the parish. I am so grateful for getting things done this weekend for sweet Julia. Our baby girl has the best big sister to follow.
