May 2022- England Day 5

On Sunday, we decided to go to morning Mass at the Brompton Oratory, which was absolutely stunning!  We are so glad we went!

We saw the tomb of St. Phillip Neri-

After lunch at a French restaurant where we clearly annoyed the staff, we went to the stunning Victoria and Albert museum!  I loved it so much!

Julia was excited to see these folks as she had just read about them in her history class-

Next door to the Victoria and Albert Museum is the Natural History Museum.  The line for this museum was a little long and ridiculous, but we did it anyway.

After this museum we went back and took a nap at the hotel.  Then we went to the Churchill War Rooms.  We had heard great things about this and really enjoyed it.

You can see the giant metal sheeting across the top to keep it safe-

Along with the bunker there is an extensive museum on the life of Winston Churchill, which was very interesting.  We spent a long time reading all the exhibits.

We rode the tube out to Notting Hill so I could see it and so we could have supper-

The Churchill Arms in Notting Hill is so charming!

Queen Victoria's monument to Albert-

We got back to the hotel and went to bed early because we had a big day of touring the next day and had to be up at 6:30 a.m.!
