This and that

Last Thursday evening we went to a charity dinner.  It was a lot of fun, but I had to laugh when the lady at my table said, "oh- I didn't realize you were pregnant."  Ha!   Just a little bit- 9 months or so.  :)  I bring my caffeine-free diet coke with me for emergencies.

On Friday Julia spent the night with BB and Poppy.  She had a ball riding the 4 wheeler and fishing and reading Dr. Doolittle.  :)

On Saturday they drove her to the 4H center for American Heritage Girls camp.  She had a ball on this one day/one night adventure and hiked, canoed, made fires, collected bugs, and had fun.

They told me Julia was the only one in the group that found all the specimens they were looking for.  I was not shocked at all- she is a born naturalist.  My little girl loves all God's creatures!

Last Saturday we got to go to the Food and Culture Festival at the Orthodox Church.  Our writing tutor invited us, and we had a wonderful time.  It began with a sacred music concert that was breathtaking.

I found this poster to be very helpful in understanding Orthodox icons.  For instance, they rarely use gray in icons because it is a cross between "what is pure and death."

We went to a friend's house for lunch and while all the children played football and other games, Mr. T spent almost the entire day mastering these stilts.  He marches to the beat of his own drum.  :)

He did play as well, but when he gets his mind set to learn something he just focuses until he gets it.

Sunday we had the beautiful baby shower I've already posted about.  We've had a nice little week at home.  We got to meet friends for lunch on Monday-

Julia is loving her new riding situation- her riding skills have taken off!  She rides at two new barns with the same teacher, who is awesome.  She rides with homeschooled girls that we are friends with.  It's just amazing.  I was so sad when our barn of five years just wasn't working out, but now I see it was best we changed.  Thank you, Lord, for arranging these things.

Handyman Marky has been super busy since the shower.  He put together the high chair, a baby rocker, a baby mobile, the stroller/carseat.  The boy LOVES to put things together.   I'm so glad!

Even Tucker has been helping put together bins and get things ready.  We are all excited.

There are a few things I'm over-the-top strict about and holding hands in a parking lot is one.  The little boys will usually not step one foot in the street without holding a big person's hand.  I think it's so sweet- they just run right up to whoever is nearby and hold hands to the car.   So my 14-year-old boy holding my 9-year-old boy's hand is very natural and no big deal.  :)

Charlie sat beside me this morning and read me some stories.  I just got lost in that little baby face- even with his big boy haircut.  I LOVE this little boy!

Daddy has been very busy lately- he had meetings Wednesday and Thursday evening and will be gone all day Saturday and most of next week.  So today he stayed home and played with us.   He took Julia to horseback riding in the morning- he can work while she rides- and then we all went to the science center to watch an Imax movie Backyard Wilderness, which we really enjoyed.

Tucker tried to put Charlie in a bubble.  :)

Everyone loves to touch the sting rays and sharks-

We came home, had spaghetti, went for a walk and now are having movie night.  :)  Such a fun day with the ones I love!
