October Part 4- Halloween

Wrapping up the October posts with Halloween!  As per our usual, BB and Poppy came over to have dinner and trick or treat with us.  This year's costumes- Gangster, Gypsy, Stick figure man, Grimm Reaper, and a Ladybug (Mommy was a Bumblebee).  :)

The stick figure costume was AMAZING.  So cute in the dark- and it had a flash setting where it would flash and he would change positions and just appear in a new pose.  So cute!

School play, Zaza's visit, Halloween

We got back from the mountains just as a hurricane was coming through.  Late Wednesday night one of our giant oak trees fell on the house.  Thanks be to God, another tree branch softened the fall and it did not go through the new roof.  The outside of our home had JUST been finished being painted THAT DAY, but amazingly nothing was ruined.  We called a tree service at 6:15 a.m., they showed up at 6:30 a.m. and the tree was off the house by 9:30 a.m.  We are so grateful for no more damage.

That afternoon we went to the children's co-op where Tucker and Charlie put on a play.  It was a true story about the life of St. Genesius, who converted to Christianity on stage during a play in Roman times.

Tucker was the Emperor Dioceltian as well as "extras" in other scenes.  Charlie was "Actor 2" in the play within a play.  They both did GREAT!

Bravo!  Bravo!

The next day Zaza flew in from Florida!  We were so excited to have her in town!

Per tradition, we always have the first lunch at hibachi!

And Zaza was thrilled to go to Marc's football game on Friday night.

And she got to see the two little guys work the crowd as "Lil Striker!"

Poor Florida lady was freezing!  She kept saying, "Oh, no, I'm not cold!"  Ha!

At one point we lost the boys and found them on the tip top of the grandstand.

Both teams always pray together after the games.  I love this league.

The next day the three boys had their final church-league flag football games for the season-

Then we came home and got ready for Halloween!  Here are the boys playing with the neighbors-

Everyone drew faces on their pumpkins and then Daddy cut them out-

BB came over and we had her delicious beef stew and cornbread for dinner.

Then it was costume time!  Scary Victorian Vampire-

Anna from Frozen-

Gandalf the Grey from Lord of the Rings-we found this gnarled stick on our woods and thought it was a perfect wizard's staff-

A ringwraith from LOTR-

And a soft little piggy-

We had a blue moon on Halloween which was magical-

It was such a treat to have BOTH grandmothers with us for Halloween!

The next day the children went on a rainbow hunt.  I asked the to find all the colors of the rainbow in the woods-

Sunday evening the children had a youth group fancy dinner for the feast of All Saints- we rolled Julia's hair and it was so pretty-

While the oldest three were out, we made our first fire of the season with Annie and Charlie.

Zaza left Monday morning, we were so happy she came to visit!
