Opryland, Shrine, etc.

We usually take a little trip over Christmas break, but this year our family will be in town.  So we decided to take one quick night up to Opryland- a place we have never seen before.  It is HUGE and magical at Christmas.   We went on a Tuesday night and there was NO crowd at all.  I love homeschooling for things like this.

It's so big- there is a boat ride through one of the many atriums-

We went out to hear the carolers and see the lighting of the Nativity-

The next day we went through the walk-through Christmas movie exhibit.  It was so much fun.

These scenes are from Elf-

The Year Without a Santa Claus-

A Christmas Story-

Polar Express-

And finally- Christmas Vacation!  Now the children haven't seen this movie, but they still enjoyed it.

Then the younger three went ice skating and Tucker and Charlie did snow tubing-

We had a great lunch in the atrium before heading home-

One night we went with a group to sing carols to people shut in because of Covid-

Julia painted this for a little girl we know-

One day we went up to the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament for the day.  We went to see our baby Nathan, who is buried there, as well as ride the horse-drawn sleigh and shop.  Julia always remembers to bring apple slices for the horses.
