Tennessee part 1

We got up in Virginia Saturday morning and after breakfast headed to Pigeon Forge, TN- the half way point on the way home.  We went to the awesome dinner show Dixie Stampede and loved it!

After the dinner show we went to our 2 bedroom condo that had an indoor pool.  The children were thrilled to get to swim!  In fact when we later gave them a choice between riding a Ferris wheel or going swimming AGAIN- they chose swimming!

After baths and bedtime on Saturday we were tired, but happy about our great day.  Cue the menacing music....

Around midnight and 1:00 a.m. Charlie fell out of bed (yes- twice) even though we had rigged it so it was impossible to fall out of bed.  Then at 1:30 a.m. Tucker threw up in the bed.  We got up, washed his sheets, cleaned folks up- 2:15- Tucker throws up again.  3:30 a.m- Charlie throws up in his bed.  Tucker and Charlie take turns getting sick every half hour all night until....5:00 a.m. Marky throws up in bed!!!

So Sunday, which was supposed to be us going to Palm Sunday mass and maybe going to Dollywood turns into washing sheets and towels, Clorox wiping every surface to save the rest of us,  and comforting three sick boys all day long.  Marky was sick ALL day on Sunday- it was so sad.  Around 3:30 p.m. Tucker was feeling better so Marc took him and Julia to the game room for some rec time.

Finally around 7 p.m. Sunday evening everyone was on the mend.  We decided to make the best of it and go out to Smoky Mountain Brewery for dinner (where we heard live music).  We got to meet a horse in the parking lot.

We decided that since everyone had slept almost the entire day we would go to the 9:20 showing of Cinderella.  Marc even managed to squeeze in a small round of mini golf with the younger three between dinner and the movie.  I can count on one hand how many times my children have been awake past 10:00.  It was way out of character for us, but fun!

Speaking of Cinderella- I loved it!  It was gorgeous- a visual feast- and I am convinced Kenneth Branagh is a genius (you can look at the first Thor movie he directed to see how it stands out)(and of course he IS Henry V).  Oh I could go on and on, but here's a great review by Fr. Barron.  We got home late Sunday night and passed out, but woke up with everyone back healthy and ready to go.  :)  Thank you, Lord, for making it a short-term bug and for the inspiration to get a condo with a washer and dryer!  :)

P.S. On that note- I want to say that our condo (with kitchen, den, 2 bedrooms, fireplace, mountain view balcony and washer/dryer) was cheaper than the Hilton Garden Inn hotel room we stayed in on the way up.  I highly recommend cabins and condos in the mountains- you can get steals if you work at it.

To Virginia

On Wednesday after work we drove half way to Virginia to see Memaw and Pawpaw.  We arrived Thursday and had a great time. Remember, I drive on all of our trips so Daddy can keep working!

Four children watching a movie, Daddy taking a call- Mommy keeps rolling......

We did let them bring LeapPads in the car- Tucker changed his avatar to "Bear" with a pic of his bear- I thought that was so cute.

We had a nice, calm time at my grandparent's house.  The kids just relax.  We pack their razor scooters and they ride those.

Feeding the deer-

Tucker found an old cane in the barn and loved it.  He said, "I am a shepherd!"

He and Julia acted out the story of the "Good Shepherd" and she was a lion- Tucker protected his little bear from her.

We played a lot of games- Checkers, Uno and Bingo.

And we had a little beaded bracelet making-

On Friday we drove up to the Peaks of Otter to have lunch- it was gorgeous- the restaurant overlooks the lake and mountain top-

You could see the snow line-
It was a great visit with my sweet grandparents.  I wish we could see them more often.  On Saturday we left after breakfast and headed to Tennessee for a few days.  More on that later!
