St. Nicholas' Day

December 6th is St. Nicholas' Feast Day.  Per our tradition, each child received a book and candy in their slippers. It's a simple tradition, but they get so excited about it.  We have always put them in the piano room under the Santa collection I inherited from Memaw.

Charlie asked why Annie didn't get any chocolate and I said, "St. Nicholas knows she's too young."  Later I walked by and there were baby "puffs" in her slippers.  Charlie smiled and said, "St. Nicholas knows she  can have puffs so he came back with some."  :)

And Daddy read us the new stories.

And here is the happiest, happiest baby!!  I did our Christmas cards yesterday and she just rolled in the tot bloc happy as a clam.  I would look over and smile and she would smile and then keep rolling and playing.  Anastasia, you are a blessing!

Well it appears we waited too late to get a good Christmas tree.  We have tall ceilings so we always get a tree over 9 feet.  This weekend all those trees were sold out and they only had 6-foot.  Daddy thought he could buy the one 11 foot tree left and cut it down to fit.  Alas, it was WAY TOO WIDE and now we are back to square one.   Julia kept saying, "Why can't it just stay here?"  And I said, "Because we'd have to move the sofa out of the room!"  And she said, "That's fine."   Who needs to sit down when you have a lovely tree?  :)

It's still a pretty tree and we are going to decorate it outside- the only place it fits!

This weekend we watched the George C. Scott Christmas Carol- it is Marc's favorite.   I believe we will watch all the versions before the season is over.  Big Marc LOVES Christmas movies.

And here are some pictures from when BB babysat Anastasia while we went to the funeral the other day- she showed BB all her tricks.  She played with her toys-

She rolled..... :)

And she chewed on her little toes.  :)

Sound of Music, Art Museum Concert, Sunday pics, etc

This week we had went to see the Sound of Music at the Shakespear Festival- it was WONDERFUL!!!  I was probably my favorite show I have ever seen there- and I have seen so many great shows.  The casting was PERFECT- the children were wonderful and we all cried.  If you have a chance to go I HIGHLY recommend making the trip- it's worth it!

Sadly, Marc Jr. didn't get to go because he had co-op.  We had great seats on the third row.

We are gearing up for the Boys Choir Christmas concert.  They are reahearsing A LOT.  I sat in on the rehearsals Thursday evening and just loved it all.  It's amazing to see how they teach these 160 boys!

We had basketball games Satuday, which were so much fun.  The announcer gives the children nicknames and he calls Charlie, "Air Jordan".

Tucker was great too!

Saturday afternoon the tour choir sang a concert at the art museum.  They were celebrating the opening of an exhibit called "Embodying Faith- Imagining Jesus through the Ages."

Anastasia had a few firsts this week- she got her first tooth!  And her first little cold.

And a few Sunday pictures- red, Christmas bonnet edition-

See my pretty Nativity dress?  :)
