All Souls' Day

Today in celebration of All Souls' Day (not to be confused with the Feast of All Saints) we took a trip out to a local cemetery to visit the grave of my mom's oldest sister who was stillborn. I can't believe I've lived here this long and never visited the family graves.

Her tomb reads, "Born only unto God." The kids wanted pink flowers because she was a baby girl. I cried while arranging the flowers as I thought about the sorrow my sweet grandparents must have felt. Nannie always said, "what a precious child she must be- raised by the angels."

Eternal rest, grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace! Amen.

You're a precious daughter to do this. We can't leave off the words my mother had clipped to Linda Claudette's picture---the words we found in our family Bible after my Mom died. They read, "We will hold you in our hearts 'till we can hold you in our arms. Love, Mama and Daddy"
Amazing grace, we are not as those without hope!
Love,
Mom, BB, and little sister

Donna,
What a precious testimony of life to your children. We buried our baby that we lost 3 years ago. We now have a sweet place to go back to and remember and remind our kids that all life is sacred and that it is He who gives and takes away. We never got to hold our little guy here, but I have full faith that we will hold him in Heaven. His name was Jordan and often the kids ask to look at the "Jordan Box"... the little box where I've kept cards, ultrasounds pictures, etc. They are thankful for him and realize very much that, though they are in Heaven, he and the other little one we lost are very much part of our family. That's one of those hard truths that shape who we are and shape our children. So happy to see you raising your kids with such a sweet knowledge of the Lord of life.
