Art Show 2018

Last night we had our end-of-the-year art show.  This is the 8th year we've taken from this teacher- Marc started in 1st grade!  She is wonderful and it's amazing to see how the children grow into artists as they get older.

Marc's art is really beautiful now-

Julia's is so much more refined this year- I LOVE these ballet slippers!

She drew this after a baby picture of Tucker-

Now Tucker and Charlie seem to mainly use art as a time to socialize.  :)  I still enjoy seeing their art.
Tucker's-

He was supposed to copy Picasso's "Armand Roulin"-

And Picasso's "Child with Dove"-

And Homer's "Fisherman's Wife"-

And Charlie Brown-

He calls this his Notre Dame compass.

And they did a cube that reflected themselves.  The top is their favorite color- left side is interests and hobbies- right side is self portrait.  Tucker explained, "My favorite color is green.  I am a singer in two choirs.  I love singing, Star Wars, Outer Space and Crafts."  :)

And finally sweet little Charliebear.  I think he was so busy talking he didn't even color most of his pictures-

One of my favorite things the teacher does is take their picture every year on the first day of class.  :)

Marky happened to be wearing the same shirt so I retook his picture.  He has grown a slat or two higher since September- his neck stretched out!  :)

Such a fun night.  I love this sweet art class and have been blessed by the art instruction and probably even more, by the fun social time the children have together with their friends every week.

This and that

On Saturday Marc and Marc Jr. went on an all-day excursion with Fraternus at Oak Mountain State Park.  They hiked over three miles through the woods and learned how to geocache.  They had lunch, played football, Frisbee and games and then went to another member's home for more basketball, games and a cookout.   They had a wonderful time.  Over 60 dads and boys went.

While they were gone all day the littles and I had a great time ourselves.  We started out the morning at the gym.  They played in the kids academy while I went to water aerobics and then we all went swimming until lunch.  The boys like their matching swim shirts.  I said, "Tucker, do you want a Captain America shirt like Charlie has?"  And he said, "I will if they don't have any geography or planet shirts."  :)

Speaking of Tucker's love of geography, at the gym they do arts and crafts a lot.  They all made these fish and Tucker's was of course a map fish.  :)

After lunch we drove out to Anniston to see the Museum of Natural History.  We've been there a million times, and we still love it.

Having Sissy with us is like having a tour guide.  She knows so much about every type of animal.  I bought her a bird guide when we left because ours was completely worn out.   She loves reading about animal habits.

Last week we had the end-of-the-year art show.  Here are a few samplings.  Marc's-

Julia's-

Tucker's-

and Charlie's-

Today we went on a tour of the Golden Flake factory.  It was very interesting- I had no idea they only had one factory in the country and it's in Birmingham.  They also make Publix brand chips.

And we all got three bags of chips at the end of the day!

After the field trip I ran the car to get some work done.  We walked next door to BK to pass the time.

This afternoon Marc was still out on the water when I went to pick him up from rowing.  He was all alone- he says you can't hear anything but your own boat. He just loves the peacefulness of it.
