Las Posadas 2015

On Sunday evening we went to a local convent to celebrate the Night of Las Posadas.   Children dress as the Blessed Virgin Mary, St. Joseph, angels, shepherds (and this year 3 kings), and we process from door to door with our candle lanterns asking inkeepers for rest.  We pray the rosary decades between the doors and a Sister plays the violin.  This year Marc and Marc Jr. were innkeepers.  They were cute- they did a little skit a la Monty Python.  :)

Tucker REALLY wanted to take our 3 kings costumes for the Posada and so we let them.  :)  They decided they wanted to have beards so they went back to the costuming room and the Sisters used burned wine bottle corks to put beards on the little kings.  :)

The innkeepers-

Sissy was a maiden.

When the fifth and final innkeeper lets the Holy Family in we all sing Salve Regina and have hot chocolate and cookies!

Such a blessing!

P.S. To learn about St. Juan Diego (who Tucker is standing in front of ) and Our Lady of Guadalupe- we watched this movie-

 And read this book-

And also this book-

The Sisters sent me a few pictures of Las Posadas past and I wanted to get them on the blog so they aren't lost!
