Washington D.C.- Day 2

On Saturday we woke up and had breakfast at the hotel.

Then it was on to the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum!!!!!   We finally made it!

Guess who was most excited?!

We watched their planetarium movie, "Journey to the Stars."

We ate lunch there as well.

We had lunch and walked around with Marc's good friend (and former coworker) and his wife.

We loved walking along the mall.  Again, the weather was beautiful.  Is Marky taller than me?

In the afternoon we toured the National Gallery of Art.  I just LOVE LOVE LOVE this place!   It's definitely my favorite of the museums.

Christ freeing the captives- look who's under the door.  :)

David and Goliath-

A real Da Vinci painting!

Marc found St. George, the dragon slayer, everywhere-

This piece is giant and gorgeous- Daniel in the Lions Den.

St. Mark with my Marcs.  :)

After the National Gallery of Art we dropped into the National Archives to see the Declaration of Independence and Constitution.  We ended up not wanting to wait in the long line so we just did the museum and gift shop.  One amazing thing was they had one of four surviving originals of the 1297 Magna Carta. This was the version put into the official Statute Rolls of England.

After the archives we were beat and sat in the grass for a while.  Charlie figured out how to flip his stroller to make a tabletop for his Superman book.

We ended the day with a trip to the Thomas Jefferson Memorial.  With the breeze off the tidal basin and the sunset, it was a gorgeous, peaceful end to the day.  Tucker later said it was his favorite thing we did.   This past year and a half we've been to Natural Bridge, Poplar Forest, and Monticello- so we feel like we know President Jefferson pretty well now.

We had a relaxing dinner at Pizza Paradiso near the hotel in Georgetown.  Thank you, Lord, for such a wonderful day.
