This morning as we all sat at the table for breakfast (even Mr. T who thinks he's grown) Marky was reading from his "Daring Book for Boys" book and shared with us all that insect comes from a Latin word meaning segments- and we all discussed why that was. Then, he told us they were the biggest "class"- what's a class mommy? Here we go- Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Family, Order... I knew I'd have to remember this at some point. (Science)
Later during breakfast we started talking about the Navajo codes used in World War II and why they had to use different words for "divebomber" and "battleship" b/c the Navajo didn't have words for that. (History)
We also spend time reading about the fascinating St. Hyacinth from Poland. (Religion)
We spend the morning at Publix ordering birthday cakes for their party this weekend and making crucial party juice box decisions and determining what the better diaper value was- Huggies or Pampers. (Consumer Math)
Then we take a fun trip to the science center and spend extra time studying sharks and how long they take to hatch and grow. (Marine Biology)
On the way home, Marky reads to us all from his "wonders of the world" book and we learn the different heights of all the tallest buildings in the world and learn about NASA's plan to scrap the Hubble telescope for the James Webb telescope in 2014 (which really disturbed Marky- he likes the Hubble). (Social Studies- Astronomy)
Finally we get home and get ready to "learn" and "do school", which takes an hour and a half. : )
After daddy gets home we all go to the park and fly Marky's kite. (Aerodynamics)
Then we run and play on the playground. (P.E.)
On the way home we sing every song we can think of and Tucker loves it (Music)
Then more stories and bedtime prayers. (Literature- Religion)
I think we're covering a lot more than you'd think in a very relaxing and joyful way.

You are so right! I know our "school" only takes about an hour to an hour and a half each day but we are learning ALL THE TIME! And having fun and enjoying each other and life!
This is awesome!! Can Colt come stay with you for a couple of days?:)
I dig this in a major way.
Question: Can I telecommute?
